Let’s introduce us a native of  Turkey and Iran to you; this is the Oriental poppy which is really a pure fascination. This flower has an unusual and striking beauty for its eye-catching color which loves to be grown in the hilly and mountain regions. Papaver orientale or Oriental Poppy was originally found in the brilliant orange shade but the botanists have succeeded in breeding a wide range of colors in Oriental Poppy, even in the silvery white, salmon or eggplant-black blotches.

Oriental poppies bloom during the months of May and June. They reach heights of 2 1/2 to 4 feet. Flowers can measure from 5 to 9 inches in diameter. Not only the Oriental Poppy, but also its plant has an overall charming look because of the lush, fern-like leaves. Oriental poppy plant is an easy to grow shrub which prefers the habitat of cool temperature and higher elevation. The fertile soil and sunny climate makes the growth of Orental poppy so perfect and it requires limited quanitity of water.  A good farmer must remember that Oriental Poppies do not handle transplanting or over-watering well and the germination period lasts for is 10–20 days. Oriental Poppy is a real grace and a pure fascination for the gardners all around the lovely planet.
