Moderate and diverse geography of Pakistan offers a lot for the flourishing of many bird species. Kingfishers are one of the spectacular species of birds that exist in Pakistan. Kingfishers are medium-sized birds with large heads, long pointed bills, short legs, and stubby tails. There are 93 species worldwide and 5 wonderful kingfishers’ species occur in Pakistan. Kingfisher is a gorgeous bird to watch that mostly lives in the tropical areas, which mean that they don’t have to face winter conditions that hinder the hunt for food. Kingfishers nest in tree hollows and holes dug into the ground, which tend to be in river banks or at the sides of lakes. The population of this short-living bird has many threats in Pakistan. Kingfishers are extremely threatened due to industrial pollution and contamination occurred due to agricultural settlements. Rapid elimination of sweet water reservoirs are also a major threat to Kingfishers in Pakistan.
