If heading to attractions is one of your motives for taking vacations than 2016 should be a pretty good year. Here are some of the coolest new attractions worth checking out right now.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios in Hollywood, California will be opening in April. The first version of a Harry Potter world was built at the Orlando Universal Studios, and it has done so well that they decided to expand it and build one on the west coast as well. The attraction will include the village of Hogsmeade, Hogwarts castle, and Gringotts Bank.

Louvre

The Louvre has been synonymous with Paris up until this point but now Abu Dhabi of he United Arab Emirates will be getting one as well. The project is is costing $650 million and will be designed by architect Jean Nouvel. The Guggenheim Abu Dhabi and Zayed National Museum are set to join the area next.

Museum of Image and Sound

The Museum of Image and Sound in Rio de Janeiro is due to open this year in time for the Olympics. It’s located on Copacabana beach, and its design was inspired by the mosaics that line the promenade of the area. The building is 10,000 square feet in size and will house galleries, a restaurant, theater, and a nightclub.

Disneyland

Shanghai is the next spot to get a Disneyland, and it opens in June. It will have many of the same rides and attractions as the Disneyland in California, but with some added bonuses. It will for example have the TRON Lightcycle Power Run thrill ride, an 800 room Toy Story hotel, and a Ratatouille-themed Parisian bakery.

FIFA World Football Museum

The FIFA World Football Museum in Zurich will contain 1,000 different exhibits from all over the world about soccer, as well as a FIFA world cup trophy that you can view in person.

The Broad

The Broad in Los Angeles has been open for a while now, but if you haven’t had a chance to go it is definitely worth it. The museum is a contemporary museum with 2,000 different pieces. The $140 million construction has free admission every day.

National Museum of African American History and Culture

The National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, DC is the latest museum of the Smithsonian, and it is located right next to the Washington Monument. It contains an extensive collection of African American historical pieces from the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. The building was designed by Tanzanian-born British architect, David Adjaye.

Taipei Performing Arts Center

The Taipei Performing Arts Center was designed by Rem Koolhaus and David Gianotten, a complex with three different theaters. Taipei is the World Design Capital of 2016, so the timing is right to head there for anything design and arts related.

Marrakech Museum for Photography and Visual Art

The Marrakech Museum for Photography and Visual Art opened in the El Badii Palace in 2013, but that was a temporary spot. Now this year it will open in its official home, designed by architect David Chipperfield.
